Merano is a town in the province of Bolzano-Bozen, Italy. It has got Passirio River to its credit. Today Merano is a health spa and tourist centre in recent years. Its elegant buildings and beautiful gardens and parks help make the town truly unique in the whole Alpine region. It is also the largest health resort on the south side of the Eastern Alps, with its main season in spring and autumn for the grape cure and with radioactive thermal springs.

The Civic Theatre - This theatre is dedicated to the famous composer Puccini. The theatre was designed in 1900 by Martin Dufler. The Civic Theatre is the example of the most imaginative exponent of German Liberty-style architecture and is an attractive construction with classical elements and floral decorations.
The Post Office Bridge - This bridge is worth a visit with its wonderfully ornate Liberty-style golden railings was built in 1906 and recently tastefully restored in 1993.
The Kurhaus - This is a truly magnificent building which was designed by Vienna architect Friedrich Ohmann in 1914. This is also the loveliest example of Liberty-style architecture in the entire Alpine region. The great hall holds over 1,000 people and is equipped to host international congresses, conferences, exhibitions and concerts. The adjacent elegant Pavillon des Fleurs, built in 1874, has a capacity of 300 seats.
Castello di Scena - Towards the north of Maia Alta, above the village of Scena, at the mouth of the Passirio valley lies the Castello di Scena. This castle has got magnificent views. The castle contains a collection of arms and armor, Renaissance furniture, portraits of members of princely families and Andreas Hofer's cradle.
